From the Houston Chronicle: Austin-based developers Legend Communities and Tiki Time plan to develop a condominium, yacht club and boathouse resort on Tiki Island, just north of Galveston. The developers announced the recent purchase of six acres as the site of the Tiki Island Residences and Boathouse Resort. They are finalizing the site plan and conceptual design for the project, located about 45 miles southeast of downtown Houston.
Steven Biegel, architecture department director of Place designers inc., will oversee the design. The project is expected to consist of 75 condominium residences, ranging from 1,500 to 1,700 square feet on five levels above a podium deck. Five penthouses with up to 3,600 square feet will be on the top two floors. The plans call for a 5,500- to 7,000-square-foot waterfront restaurant; a waterfront ship’s store with retail space; marina rental slips and guest slip area for the restaurant and ship’s store; a boardwalk; a boathouse with capacity for 220 boats on four levels; and parking for cars and golf carts.
