Construction is advancing on Sachs on the Seawall, a $540 million mixed-use redevelopment poised to reshape Galveston’s west end with a 216-room Marriott Renaissance hotel, 150 luxury condominiums, 70,000 square feet of retail/dining space, and four acres of public green space. The private investment is expected to create more than 2,300 jobs, drive hotel-occupancy tax revenue to fund infrastructure and historic preservation efforts, and reinvigorate the island’s economy—all while honoring Galveston’s heritage. PLACE Designers is listed among the architectural firms involved, and if approved, the project could break ground as early as December 2026 with first-phase completion projected by 2029.
