THE LIGHTHOUSE

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX

Carved entirely from stone, The Lighthouse rises 128 feet at the north end of Lighthouse Pointe beside the Nueces Causeway. As travelers approach Corpus Christi on US-181, the tower announces arrival with a quiet authority—an emblem of strength, ingenuity, orientation, peace, and longevity. More than a marker, it anchors a revitalized coastal setting and identifies the new residential community that surrounds it.

Precision engineering meets old-world craft. Four-foot-thick limestone walls at the base taper to two feet at the crown, with exterior and interior walls set at complementary angles for stability. The 42-foot base transitions to a 24-foot concrete deck at the upper balcony platform. A central 20-inch steel column supports radial landings and concrete bond beams at 12-foot intervals, forming wheel-like platforms for maintenance. Random-size limestone is laid in a Tuscan mortar “smear” finish, echoing Italianesque stonework across the development. Designed in 2019 and completed in 2022, the lower level is planned as dining and special-event space for the attached restaurant, weaving the landmark into everyday coastal life.
